Animal Control


The City of Thomaston Animal Control Office is committed to protecting the well-being of all people and animals in our community through enforcement of city ordinances.

Animal Control officers respond to calls from citizens, investigates reports of animal cruelty, interprets city ordinances, issues citations and subpoenas, and impounds stray animals.

City of Thomaston Animal Control Officers operate in accordance with the rules and regulations of Chapter 14 of the City of Thomaston Ordinances and to the Rules of the Georgia Department of Agriculture, OCGA 40-13-13.

Animal Control Officers work closely with the Police Department, Building Safety Department, and Rescue groups for the good of the animals in question. Animal Control is Dedicated to the safety and welfare of both animals and our community. Our compassionate team of professionals is committed to responsibly managing and resolving animal-related issues with expertise and care. With a strong focus on education and outreach, we work towards fostering harmonious coexistence between humans and animals. From rescuing and rehabilitating distressed animals to promoting responsible pet ownership, we aim to create a safer and more compassionate environment for all living beings. City of Thomaston Animal Control Staff will only respond to animal related concerns within the incorporated city limits of Thomaston. Concerns outside of city limits should be made to Upson County Animal Control
